Metabolism is the chemical process that takes place in every cell
in your body to convert food into energy. Your body uses that
energy to renew cells, repair wounds and maintain essential
body functions such as keeping you breathing.  Your resting or
basal metabolism is the calorie burning activity that is carried on
without your need to exert an effort.  It happens all day, all
night.  Almost all Americans are on diets. But did you know that
your body's resting metabolism accounts for almost 90% of the
calories you burn each day?  It is almost impossible to lose
weight and maintain weigt loss over a long period of time
without also increasing your resting metabolism.

How do you speed up metablism? Are there changes you can
make to speed up your metabolism?

























1. Magnesium is the Key. According to research, a little
appreciated mineral is at the heart of metabolism. Magnesium.
Magnesium is responsible for helping the body to convert food
into energy.
Foods high in magnesium include almonds, spinach
and all dark green vegetables, and beans.  

2. Eat Dark Green Foods. Dark green vegetables are especially
high in magnesium. Why? The reason these vegetables are dark
green is the presence of chlorophyll in the nucleus of their cells.  
Cholorphyll is rich in magnesium. So, literally, if you want to
boost metabolism, eat green. The darker the better.  Start your
day off with a vegetable juice  of your favorite dark greens.  Add
dark green arugula or spinach to your salads. Prefer dark greens
over light iceberg lettuce.  The extra chlorophyll will boost your
metabolism and help you lose weight.

3. Chromium Helps. Chromium is another mineral which has been
shown to speed up metabolism.  It is almost impossible to ingest
enough chromium from natural food sources. Your best
alternative is to find a good, daily multivitamin with chromium, to
plug the nutritional gap.

4. Other
Foods That Speed Up Metabolism. As we have

capsaicin also speed up metabolism.
